I have been teaching second grade at PRS for 16 years. Prior to that, I taught preschool in Cambridge for 14 years. My preschool experience helped me form my teaching philosophy, so you'll find a lot of hands-on, experiential learning in my classroom! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching, both from Simmons College.
Some of my passions are bicycling, gardening, and cooking and eating healthy and nutritious food (I'm a bit of a health nut). I love to share my passions with students. The past 3 years we've had hydroponic tomatoes growing in the classroom, which the students were eager to try. Most years we also make applesauce, pumpkin muffins, and homemade pasta.
I have no children of my own, though I was a foster parent to 2 rambunctious boys for 2 years. One was in second grade, and it was an eye opening experience for me to experience school from a parent’s point of view. I give parents a lot of credit, and enjoy working closely with parents to give your child the best year possible.
